Save Our Water
Wonnacott Strategies leads the strategy and day-to-day management of the Save Our Water program, a partnership between the Association of California Water Agencies and the California Department of Water Resources. In 2014, Wonnacott led the transition of the program into a full-scale statewide water conservation and education campaign adopted by the administration of Governor Jerry Brown. Efforts included three statewide paid and earned media marketing campaigns, the launch of two new websites, and complete revamp of the program’s messaging.
Fresh & Easy
Wonnacott Strategies served as Fresh & Easy’s communications and public relations agency following a transition to new ownership in 2013. Brendan worked directly with Fresh & Easy’s CEO and executive team to rebuild the company’s internal and external communications structure, as well as help the company in its attempt to reinvigorate its brand and reintroduce itself to customers and stakeholders. The Wonnacott Strategies team led crisis communications for the company as it entered bankruptcy and liquidation.
Beagle Freedom Project
Wonnacott Strategies was hired by the Beagle Freedom Project to plan a press conference and manage media relations for a bill (AB 147) sponsored by the group. The press conference, which featured bi-partisan supporters, dozens of dogs and owners, as well as a celebrity, received wide-spread news coverage and helped the bill pass its committee hearing.
Wonnacott Strategies provided pro bono media relations services to Vaccinate California, the grassroots parent group supporting SB 277, the controversial bill to do away with the Personal Belief Exemption from the vaccination requirements to attend school. As part of the Vaccinate California grassroots leadership team, Jennifer was key in developing messaging & content, executing media relations strategy and managing requests from news media. The high-profile bill received intense nationwide media coverage and Vaccinate California was the voice of pro-vaccination parents in countless stories. The group’s grassroots efforts helped propel the bill to victory – Governor Brown signed SB 277 into law on June 30, 2015.
Stones Gambling Hall & Sammy’s Restaurant
Wonnacott Strategies engaged with Stones Gambling Hall in Citrus Heights to promote the on-site restaurant, Sammy’s Restaurant + Bar, the first in Northern California. Wonnacott Strategies developed key messaging, a social media plan and managed press announcements. A favorable review appeared on the popular Sacramento food blog Cowtown Eats.
Wonnacott Strategies has directed statewide and congressional-level public affairs campaigns in support of Google’s policy priorities, including federal patent reform legislation and California consumer privacy legislation. These efforts have included grasstops outreach, op-ed placement and coalition building.
